Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program Eligibility

Candidates for the Canadian Francophonie Scholarship Program must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible country (Check list above).
  • The programme must correspond to at least one of priorities area that has been defined by the beneficiary country.
  • The candidate must be employed
  • Occupy a key position (exception for female candidates if her employer agrees to reinstate her in a key position after her return)
  • The candidate’s institution must be in the category of eligible institutions to receive awards in order of priority
  • The institution must commit to reintegrating the candidate at the end of his program. The institute must define its institutional reinforcement needs
  • Fluency in spoken and written French: Since studies must be done on a continuous basis in French and in a French-language institution in Canada, fluency in French is an essential condition for admission. Nationals from Cambodia, Cape Verde, Dominica, Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Laos, Lebanon, Mauritania, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, St Lucia, Seychelles, Vanuatu and Vietnam are required to demonstrate success of the TFI exam.
  • Applicants selected for a program in Public Administration must pass the SEL (Service d’évaluation linguistique)exam;
  • Mastery of basic computer tools: WORD, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research. A TOSA Skills Testwill be administered to verify skill level.
  • Studies in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry for clinical training are excluded, except for postdoctoral research.
  • Persons who have applied for immigration to Canada or who have resident status or whose spouse has this status are not eligible.
